40 NOLN | www.noln.net Tech Spec: 2017 Jeep Compass Jeep is launching its all-new 2017 Compass this spring. e capable, compact SUV is packed with style and provides exceptional per- formance in all weather conditions. e 2017 Jeep Compass is powered by the 2.0-liter I-4 World Gas Engine, which produces 158 horsepower and 141 pound-feet of torque, mated to a five-speed manual transmission. An optional 2.4-liter DOHC 16-valve dual vari- able-valve timing engine, which produces 172 horsepower, is available. Optional transmis- sions include the CVT2 transmission, the Pow- ertech six-speed automatic transmission or the continuously variable transaxle with low range (CVT2L). e 2017 Jeep Compass is available in three drivetrain configurations: 4X2, Freedom Drive I full-time active 4x4 and Freedom Drive II full- time active 4x4. Jeep Freedom Drive I 4x4 is an available full- time active four-wheel-drive system with lock mode, designed to give drivers year-round as- surance with the ability to handle rough weath- er and low-traction conditions. e active four-wheel-drive system is recommended for daily use, including slick conditions that come with rain and light snow. Freedom Drive I also features a lockable center coupling, giving driv- ers the ability to put the vehicle in four-wheel- drive lock mode to handle deep snow, sand and other low-traction surfaces. e Jeep Freedom Drive II 4x4 Off-road Package is an available four-wheel-drive sys- tem that delivers Jeep Trail Rated 4x4 capa- bility. e Freedom Drive II Off-road Package includes a second-generation CVT2L that engages when the off-road mode is activated, 17-inch all-terrain tires and aluminum wheels, a one-inch raised ride height, a full-size spare tire, skid plates, tow hooks, fog lamps and manual seat height adjuster. e Freedom Drive II Off-road Package is recommended for off-road situations that include steep grades, occasional wheel lift and rock or log climbing. e Freedom Drive II Off-road Package delivers a 19:1 overall crawl ratio. e 2017 Compass is available in five trim levels: Sport, Sport SE, Latitude, High Altitude and 75th Anniversary Edition. e Sport trim level includes such items as a 2.0-liter DOHC I4 engine with dual VVT, five-speed manual transmission, 16-inch aluminum wheels, air conditioning, deep-tinted sunscreen glass, electronic stability control and electronic roll mitigation. e Sport SE trim gets 18-inch polished aluminum wheels with mineral gray pockets, mineral gray badging, bezels, roof side rails and fog lamp bezels, heated front seats and premium cloth and vinyl low-back bucket seats. e Latitude trim adds automatic head- lamps, power door locks and power windows, as well as heated front seats and heated pow- er exterior mirrors, remote vehicle start and a leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls. e High Altitude trim 4x4 models get a 2.4-liter engine with six-speed automatic transmission, while all High Altitude models get a power sunroof and 17-inch aluminum wheels with granite painted pockets. e 75th Anniversary Edition trim gets low-gloss bronze exterior accents on 4x4 models, while all 75th Anniversary Edition models get low- gloss bronze 18-inch aluminum wheels, power express sunroof, McKinley leather-trimmed seats with ombre mesh seat inserts and Moroc- can sun interior accents. e 2017 Jeep Compass Sport carries a start- ing MSRP of $19,940, while the top-of-the-line 4x4 75th Anniversary Edition Compass carries a starting MSRP of $27,065.
